Fairbanks Bust in Fort Wayne, Indiana

This vigorous bronze work by Avard Fairbanks once appeared at the former Lincoln Museum in downtown Fort Wayne. Called "Abraham Lincoln the Frontiersman," it depicts what Lincoln may have looked like in the 1820s and 1830s.

Fairbanks also created Lincoln statues and relief work on display in Hawaii and Illinois. Born in 1897, Fairbanks studied sculpture in Paris and enjoyed a lifelong teaching career at various American universities.
