Ghiglieri Statue in Kansas City, Missouri

When you are in downtown Kansas City, plan to stop by this substantial sculpture of President Lincoln and his son Tad, which recalls a familiar pose based on a period photograph. You will find it on the south side of City Hall at 414 E. 12th Street.

Dedicated to the citizens of Kansas City on September 16, 1986, it is the design of American artist Lorenzo E. Ghiglieri. The bronze work rests on a polished granite base which contains two short excerpts from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and Second Inaugural Address. Orville W. Anderson, a local businessman, organized the effort to fund and commission the sculpture.
