Clayville Historic Site
East of Pleasant Plains, Illinois
South Side of Highway 125

Planning to be near Springfield, Illinois, this weekend? Check out this invitation is from the Pleasant Plains Historical Society:

Join us for the first of many FREE family movie nights at the Clayville Historical Site on Saturday, August 1. Our feature is the 1939 John Ford Classic "Young Mr. Lincoln," starring Henry Fonda.

This film depicts ten years in the life of Abraham Lincoln before he became known to his nation and the world. He moves from a Kentucky cabin to Springfield, Illinois, to begin his law practice. He defends two men accused of murder in a political brawl, suffers the death of his girlfriend Ann, courts his future wife Mary Todd, and agrees to go into politics.

The movie begins at dusk, but feel free to come early and tour the Clayville grounds and see the progress made by our hard working volunteers restoring the Historic site. So bring your lawn chairs and blankets, friends and family, and join us for a night of fun and entertainment. Popcorn and soda will be sold.

We look forward to seeing you!!!!

Find out more about the Clayville restoration project at the Pleasant Plains Historical Society website.
